Indiana Victors

The Indiana Victors are a professional Hybrid Football team located in Indianapolis, Indiana. They currently compete in the North American Association of Football as a member of the West Division. They play their home games at Victory Stadium in Indianapolis.

The Victors were founded in 1957 and joined the NAAF as an expansion team. The Victors'  name comes from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument located in the heart of downtown. The inscription on the monument "To Indiana's Silent Victors", was the main source of inspiration as well as the founding owner, Sammy Kirkdale's family history in the military. Sammy Kirkdale remains the owner of the team in 1969.

The Victors struggled to get off the ground. They did not make the playoffs until their 9th season of play in 1965. They have been competitive since then, making the McCallister Cup in 1968.

STADIUM

Victory Stadium was opened in 1957 and seats 48,500. The stadium has a classic coliseum style, having a circular outside with classic stone pillars. The inside has seating all around and a couple of levels, with a roof that covers the seating area. Victory Stadium is also one of the most well-kept stadiums in the league as Kirkdale puts a lot into its upkeep.

Victory Stadium has hosted 2 McCallister Cups since it was opened in 1958 and 1969.

DESIGN

1957-1966

The Victors' original design featured a primarily green look at home with a green helmet with numbers on the side, then 3 orange stripes surrounded by 2-white stripes each on the jersey and socks. Then, the pants had a separate stripe pattern with a separated green stripe with 2 orange stripes. The road uniforms simply swapped green with white on the jerseys.

1967-1969
The Victors made their first change in 1967 when they completely revamped their look. First, they added a new torch logo that features an "I" shape for the torch base and a "V" in the design. The new logo arrives on the new white helmet which has striping to match the white pants the team maintained through the update. The new home uniform now just has a white and orange stripe at the cuff, while the road matches the helmet and pants with the stripes.

1970

With the partnership with Patterson Athletics, the Victors made minimal changes. They moved their numbers on the road uniform to the shoulders while the helmet was fitted with a white face mask.
