1958 Uniform Updates

1958 Uniform Updates - Part 1

So this will be the first part of the update reveals, probably the least exciting with the teams that have not made any real changes at all.

However, another tidbit is last season Louisville did wear their gold pants on the road for a game and the white at home. Fans liked the changeup, and the league is encouraging it this season for teams that will have different coloured pants.

Four teams would not make any real shifts at all. Indiana, Louisville, Montreal, and Worcester all kept their looks consistent with their most recent updates.

1958 Uniform Updates - Part 2
Four other teams made a minor change or addition for this season.

Ottawa Royals

Ottawa made the smallest change, by adding a 50th Anniversary logo to their jersey so they celebrate 50 years since the club’s founding in 1908.
Boston Independents
Boston made their sleeve stripes thinner and made the captaincy letter on the green jerseys gold.

Buffalo Blue Wings
Buffalo made an adjustment to the shade of blue they used, slightly darkening it for a bolder look. They applied the changes to their logo as well.
Long Island Raiders

Finally, Long Island made their green slightly brighter and swapped out green socks for burgundy socks on their home jersey.
The final two teams made drastic changes...get ready Gold Star and Tiger fans.

1958 Uniform Changes - Part 3

Providence Gold Stars
The Gold Stars decided to go for a uniform overhaul. They have had the same look since the early ’40s, so they wanted to change things more drastically. The helmet adds two new stripes that surround the three stars on the front of the helmet. The new jerseys have a very different shoulder stripe. They went from the usual sleeve to sleeve stripe to more of an extended yoke that goes down 3 quarters of the sleeve. The pants go from a single stripe to two stripes matching the helmet, and the new socks. They also decided to add white pants for the roads with a gold/blue stripe that matches with the white socks.

London Tigers
While the option to keep the Ontario name was highly considered, the team is looking for a fresh start in London. They have decided to use London in the name now which has brought on a uniform and branding update. The Tiger logo will remain the primary logo, but they have now added an “L-T” logo as their secondary. They also updated the colour of orange they use to create a bolder look.

With the uniforms, they wanted to go for a bolder and brighter look. Firstly, the new secondary logo is featured on the helmet as the Tigers become the 8th team to have a particular helmet design or numbers. The actual home and away jerseys remain unchanged, but the new orange pants were brought in to replace the tan pants the team had used for many years. A big reason they had the plain look, was due to the financial troubles and they worked well for the time.
