1960 Re-sign Stage
MVP Locked Up In London
After a fantastic season, 1959 MVP QB Riley Kiernan, was the primary focus for the Tigers this offseason. It would only take a day or two of negotiation and Kiernan would sign a 6-year deal worth $40,000 a season making him the highest-paid player in the league. Kiernan is only 30 at the moment, so having him locked in for the long run is excellent. The Tigers also locked in a couple of other stars in WR Max Sutton for 5-years, LB Aengus Lynch for 3 years, and DB Jackson Miles for 4-years.
Bridge Deal for Dumont
The Thunder made an interesting play with their starting QB. It is pretty typical for teams to lock in their young QBs to big long-term deals, but Louisville took a different approach. The Thunder haven’t seen enough in Dumont to give him the big contract, so they settled on a 2-year deal at $27,000 a year. The contract will be the proving ground for Dumont to make the case to be the top dog with the Thunder for the long run.
Williams Stays Put, Devonshire to Test Free Agency
The big question for the Athletics heading into the offseason was whether or not team captain LB Scotty Williams would stay in Worcester or leave like many teammates over the last few years. Williams, at the end of the day, would stay with the Athletics stating that he loves the city and fans and could not just walk away. However, he only gave the team a two-year deal to show that the team is turning things around, or there is no promise for him to stay next time around. Fellow LB Harrison Bennett also would stick on for 2 more seasons, but RB Marcus Devonshire chose the different route. Despite being the top-dog on offence, Devonshire is interested in looking for a potential new home but hasn’t ruled returning to Worcester out yet.

The free agency pool will be filled with QBs and RBs who are looking for new homes. Many teams parted ways with backup QBs which means there is likely a large shake-up for the QB position throughout this season. The same goes for RBs as many are hoping to find starting positions or a greater share of touches than where they were.
